Matthew 9:36-38 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into harvest.”
Knock, knock! I hope it’s not much of a disturbance if I confer a brief matter to you. First of all, I’d like to ask some questions for your own reflection. Try to ask yourself. What have I done as a contribution to the community? Can I do more? What can I do? Well, if the first question is answered, then the second question is right for you, but if you have a little doubt and may need in depth thinking for the first question, then please read the third question. Before we open the door for this opportunity, let me give you a sneak peek of what happening right now.
For the last nine years at least 6.24 million among 39 millions of children aged from 6-24 are considered out of school youth. Despite government efforts, lack of funds and various reasons such as lack of moral, financial support, family problems, etc. forced children to be out of school (NSO 2011, TheManilaTimes.net). Moreover, while other managed to continue school, they weren’t able to escape the hazardous labor just to keep up. According to NSO 2011 Survey on Children, Children on ages 5-17 on IloIlo alone 2099 students are exposed on hazardous labor. These children should be our future, and the challenge for us is to make sure that we can contribute to our future’s hope, so what can you do?
This May, let’s start by giving interest to students to go to school. I want you to be a part of this event, to give support to children with their school supplies, and hopefully we can work out on scholars by the coming years. This invitation is a life changing, and shall require your commitment. Let’s do this every year. Make this our vocation. This contribution of once a year can save a child of going out of school for the whole 12 months, inspiring them of a hand that will give and support for the future. Be a part of that contribution! I hope you can think about your power to make a change to other people, you have the strength, resources and the ability to contribute JUST DESIRE and DO IT. In God’s will and In God’s grace, we will make this possible. We would best need you for financial contribution and or personal volunteerism. I pray that God bless you and make you desire to be an instrument of change.
